Replacing the forward assist, the gas vent serves as the path of least resistance for gas blown back into the receiver of direct impingement actions, redirecting the gasses away from the shooter. Gas volume inside the receiver is amplified when a suppressor is attached. The gas vent mitigates the choking cloud of nastiness that shooters refer to as "gas face" by providing a restriction-free avenue for the gasses to be redirected. This product is especially effective if a thin coating of RTV is added to the rear of the charging handle or by using a handle with a larger rear surface such as the BCM/VLTOR Gunfighter.
Installation disables the forward assist function.
